Enabling Trusted CORSIA Claims Through the CADO SAF Registry

The aviation industry's transition to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) depends not only on fuel production, but also on robust systems that ensure environmental claims can be trusted. The latest CADO paper outlines how the CADO SAF Registry supports CORSIA-Eligible Fuel (CEF) claims by providing a secure, transparent platform for the registration, transfer, redemption, and claiming of SAF environmental attributes. Built in alignment with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and the IATA SAF Accounting and Reporting Methodology, the Registry is designed to streamline compliance while strengthening confidence in aviation decarbonization efforts.  

For aircraft operators, the Registry simplifies the end-to-end CORSIA reporting process. SAF batches can be registered together with their sustainability documentation, validated through interoperability checks with partner registries, and converted into SAF Fuel Units (SFUs) that can be tracked throughout the value chain. Once redeemed, operators can allocate SAF attributes to the appropriate claiming year and automatically generate the supplementary information required for CORSIA emissions reporting. This digital workflow reduces manual effort while ensuring that supporting documentation remains linked to every claim. 

The paper also highlights significant benefits for verifiers. Through controlled access to the Registry, auditors can review SAF batch details, trace transaction histories, and verify associated documentation such as the Proof of Sustainability documentation. The Registry's immutable records and automated reporting capabilities help support key verification requirements, including traceability and double-claim prevention. By embedding these controls directly into the system, CADO enables a more efficient and transparent verification process for all participants.  

Beyond airlines and verifiers, the Registry provides state authorities with access to relevant claim information, facilitates order of magnitude checks against CEF claims and enhances assurance processes. By creating a shared source of truth for SAF environmental attributes and regulatory claims, the CADO SAF Registry strengthens the integrity of SAF accounting while reducing administrative burden across the ecosystem. As regulatory and voluntary SAF markets continue to expand, the Registry offers a practical framework for ensuring that aviation's decarbonization claims remain credible, transparent, and auditable.
