SAF Registries Publish Global Interoperability Framework & Principles

IATA, in collaboration with CADO, 4AIR, and 123Carbon, has published the SAF Registry Global Interoperability Framework & Principles, a global industry framework designed to support interoperability between Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) registries. 

The Framework establishes the governance, operational, and technical approach that enables participating registries to identify and prevent the double issuance of SAF environmental attributes across systems. By introducing structured cross-registry checks and collaboration mechanisms, it helps strengthen the integrity, transparency, and credibility of SAF environmental attribute markets. 

The Framework is currently implemented by the CADO SAF Registry, Assure SAF Registry, and 123Carbon. Publication of the Framework builds on a successful interoperability pilot completed by the three registries in June 2026.  

The Framework is designed to be open to additional registries that meet the participation requirements and outlines a roadmap for expanding interoperability capabilities in the future. SAF registries are encouraged to join and contribute to the continued development of the interoperability framework.
